Hi Kanako, Risa,Mizuko and Yumiko,
Not everyone has "once" in Chile (Once means tea time )because that depends on having some free time at around 5 o'clock. Housewives and schoolchildren usually do, and they have a cup tea or coffee with milk, a ham and cheese sandwich, toasts with butter and jam or cookies. Sometimes, on special occasions there is a cake. They have "once" in the dining room. People in offices have a mug of tea or coffee during the day at their desks or at the office kitchen if there is one.

Having dinner or not depends on each family habits. Most school children have a light meal in the evening, such as a soup is it is cold or a main course like a salad and a steak or chicken and rice.

I finish work at 7 or 8 pm, so I never have "once" at the office but yesterday was our secretary's birthday, so we all had a cake, ice cream and coffee at about 5:30.
I am not used to having dinner, but when I am hungry after work I sometimes cook some rice or eat a fruit salad.

I hope you find this useful.

Regards

Alejandra

thank you for your nice and useful comment.

we have also time to have an afternoon snack, but particularly children do. I understand "once" is like it.
